Now we are in the Lenten Season. We are doing Soup and Sandwich a time of fellowship and building relationships. As we reflect personally, we will also reflect on where we are in our worship and why we follow a Liturgy, or traditions of the church.
We began with Ash Wednesday and the history and reflection on the origins, Biblical Themes, connection to Lent and Fasting, Significance of the Ashes, Meditation on Mortality and the Need for Salvation, Church Traditions, and Practical Application.
Throughout this season, we will review similar topics, focusing on why we worship in the way we do in the Liturgy, the significance of each portion of the service, and the goals of the church seasons.
Why is this important?
I have seen many church services that only reach people to make them feel good. They have great music, and they are seeker-friendly, but there do not seem to be foundations to build faith on. What are these foundations? You know the story: build a house on sand, and it can be washed away; build a house on a firm foundation (stone), and it will withstand the strongest storms.
Where do we find the worship in the Bible? What are the parts of praise and worship? How do we enter into the Holy place and worship the King of the Universe, God Almighty, and His Son, Jesus?
My prayer is that during Lent, we might be able to be inspired and understand a refreshed worship and walk with Jesus.
