The Great Commission

Now that I have been at Peace Church for four months, I am starting to see where we are and getting a handle on where we need to go.
Every ship is built for an adventure. The Peace Church Ship is at the Dock and ready to go on its next adventure. Like the Mayflower passengers, who were Christians seeking freedom and a new life. So, it is with every church. They are called and commissioned to be on an adventure with Christ, to build His Kingdom on earth. All Aboard!
As a trained Pastor and Evangelist, there are some preparations we need to go on the adventure Jesus has for us and share our blessings with others, as we fulfill the great commission in Matthew 28.
First, we need to recognize that the Great Commission is the task of all believers. Second, you need to ask yourself, are you equipped to fulfill the Great Commission? I can share that when I was called at age 16, I was not; when the call was expressed at age 38, I was not. However, the second time it was more motivating. Learning what to do and what to say was the challenge. I began with some simple exercises. Over the years, I have learned other methods and mediums to use to express and share the Gospel. The most effective is personal stories; people want to hear your personal story.
There are a couple of things we can do to help you first learn more about Jesus and who He is. Second, begin to understand that He is working in your life every day and how to recognize His influence in you, your family, and your life.
Between now and the fall or August, I would like to meet informally with you before church, 8:30 AM, or after church at 11:30 AM. Of course, I know there will be vacations and other times when not everyone will be able to be there. But since it is informal, it will be open. We can begin to meet in the Fellowship Hall after Memorial Day. Please express your preference.
Also, I would like to invite everyone to The Pentecost Festival on Pentecost Sunday at the amphitheater at Wickham Park, 2-7 PM. This will be several churches and ministries from the community, with music and food trucks.
To help plan and start thinking about Peace Church and how we can grow here, I have some questions.
There are three questions I need to ask:
1. Who do you know that you would like to share your church family with?
2. What can you say about Peace Lutheran Church that you would like to share?
3. What else would you like to see the church provide?
If you write me a note with the answers and any questions you have, give them to me after church or send me the answers to the office email: office@peacelutheranpb.org I would appreciate it.
